The 394th District includes Brewster, Culberson, Hudspeth, Jeff Davi9s, and Presidio Counties. Through the efforts of Judge Roy Ferguson (2013-2024), the 394th District Court stands alone in court efficiency and access to justice through modern technology. Judge Ferguson oversaw the creation of the online jury check-in, qualification and exemption, automated application and appointment of counsel for indigent criminal defendants, and real-time magistration portal for all felony arrestees in the five counties. For his leadership, Judge Ferguson was recognized by the Texas Indigent Defense Commission, American Bar Association, Texas Bar College, Texas Center for the Judiciary, and State Bar of Texas Family Law Section .
Judge Ferguson retired from the bench on December 31, 2024, after serving three terms of office, and now serves as a statewide special judge in civil and family law cases, and a visiting judge in all types of cases.
